Microdermabrasion is usually performed by our aestheticians, Rachel or Norah. It is either a stand-alone procedure or can be combined with a facial, an aesthetician peel or other treatments. Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps exfoliate the top layers of the skin to allow the younger, plumper and fresher cells appear. Microdermabrasion helps repair facial skin that has taken a beating from the sun and the effects of aging. The aesthetician uses a motorized device like a very fine diamond tipped sander to gently abrade the face and suction away dead cells. Like dermabrasion, microdermabrasion involves removing some of the upper skin layers. Microdermabrasion, however, doesn’t go as deep. Another major difference is that microdermabrasion refreshes the skin without causing enough skin removal to require any healing or “down” time.
As with other skin rejuvenation techniques, more than one treatment may be needed to reduce or remove fine wrinkles and unwanted pigmentation and may need to be combined with other aesthetician services and products for best results. The microdermabrasion is also a great way to exfoliate remnants of peeling skin after a chemical peel. Be sure to ask our aestheticians about the many advantages of this easy and pain-free technique!
