ARCHIVE ARTICLE: Silicone Breast Implants Return
On Nov. 17, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Silicone Breast Implants for breast reconstruction in women 22 years of age and older. FDA approval came with a number of conditions, including a recommendation that magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, studies be done three years after implantation, and every two years thereafter. The FDA will continue to monitor the implants in 40,000 women for the next 10 years.
