• Do you shop for clothes that hide your body instead of fashions you’re excited about?
• Do you cover up at the beach?
• Do you finish workouts feeling frustrated, staring at bulges that can’t be exercised away?
If so, you may be an ideal candidate for liposuction. You’ve probably thought about it in the past – but may have been scared away by the thought of all that pain, bruising and swelling.
| Fortunately, LipoSelection is here! It minimizes pain, bruising and swelling by using Ultrasound and precision cannulas to dissolve fat cells while leaving nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue largely undisturbed.
| FACT: |
An independent, peer-reviewed study reported that patients treated with VASER Technology experienced none of the complications common to traditional liposuction, such as burns, prolonged swelling, abnormal sensation and skin cell degradation. |
| The patented VASER technology is so sensitive and precise that we can use it on the most delicate areas. Treatable areas include:
• chin and neck
• male breasts
• inner thighs
• back
• abdomen
• arms
• knees
• hips
• buttocks
• love handles
VASER LipoSelection is more tissue-selective than traditional liposuction. What does this mean?
•
The VASER procedure efficiently breaks up fat with diffused energy via small, solid grooved probes.
•
It removes liquefied fat with massage and cannulae designed with minimal tissue trauma in mind. Other ultrasound techniques use either hollow probes that fragment fat while simultaneously removing protective fluid (which can increase the risk of thermal damage such as burns), or smooth probes that focus all of the energy at the tip (which can damage tissue).

The precision instruments result in a smoother, more even appearance to the skin than with traditional liposuction.

1.
First, the area to be sculpted is filled with a special solution that includes epinephrine, which shrinks blood vessels to help reduce bleeding and bruising, and lidocaine, an anesthetic agent that helps numb the site.
2.
The solution wets and fills the area to be treated, making fat easier to break up.
3.
A small probe transmits sound energy (similar to that used for cataract removal in the eye) that breaks up fat on contact, leaving other important tissues relatively intact.
4.
Finally, suction and massage of the sculpted site removes the emulsified fat quickly.
This is done under general anesthesia in a fully accredited surgical suite close to our office. You’re unaware of what is happening -- you go to sleep and awaken post-operatively.
What Happens When I Wake Up?
Once the numbing effects of the anesthetic agent wear off, you may experience some discomfort. We’ll give you pain medication to handle that. Initially, expect some fluid drainage from your incisions.
Compression Garment
You will wear a compression garment home from the procedure. You’ll continue to wear the garment for 2-6 weeks post-operatively, depending on the amount of fat removed. This will provide you with comfort and support, and will help your skin settle to your new contours.
How much fat can be taken?
There are limits to how much fatty tissue can be safely taken from the body. You can discuss realistic expectations regarding your new look during your consultation with Dr. Guy and her staff.
What about future weight gain/fat migrating to other areas?
This is a common misperception. Once you have fat removed, it is gone and, assuming proper diet and exercise, it will not return or migrate. However, because fat is necessary to a healthy body, some essential fat layers in any given site remain untreated. If you do gain a significant amount of weight, the remaining fatty tissue will expand. Fat will be proportionately distributed over your entire body.
