What are my options in breast enhancement surgery?
During a consultation with Dr. Guy, you will discuss the variety of factors to consider regarding breast augmentation ("augmentation mammaplasty"). This includes the size, shape, and placement of the breast implants, along with incision location. You will also be able to view your potential results through a 3D imaging system.
Typically, Dr. Guy prefers the inframammary incision (in the breast crease) when using silicone gel breast implants. Saline filled implants may be inserted through the areola (nipple), axilla (armpit), and breast crease. Silicone gel implants are used on patients over the age of 22, whereas saline implants are typically used for those over 18 years of age; Dr. Guy will discuss how each type of implant may be used during special circumstances. Our breast augmentation surgeon will provide further information regarding breast implants during your appointment.
Based on the patient's anatomy, the implants may be placed either behind the breast tissue or underneath your chest wall muscle (the pectoral muscle). Dr. Guy then centers the implants beneath the nipples. After breast augmentation surgery, patients may return to work in a few days. Scars will be pink for at least six weeks and will continue to fade over time.
