Botox® Treatments
“Get those annoying wrinkles and creases to relax for a change.”
The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, commonly referred to by its product name Botox®, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Studies have also suggested that Botox is effective in relieving migraine headaches, excessive sweating and muscle spasms in the neck and eyes.
Botox facial rejuvenation is generally performed on adult men and women whose facial tissue and muscles are in good condition. Botox treatments will not prevent patients from making natural facial expressions such as smiling, frowning or looking surprised. Benefits from Botox can last from 3 to 6 month.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Brevard Plastic Surgery & Skin Treatment Center uses only the highest quality of Botox® and only Botox specifically approved by the FDA for
cosmetic use.

Consultation & Preparation
Dr. Guy will discuss your goals and evaluate your individual case. Options such as combining Botox treatments with other treatments, such as the filler Restylane, may be examined as well as any suitable alternatives to Botox. She will also discuss your health history, any past facial treatments, current medications, use of vitamins, herbal supplements, ahcohol, tobacco and drugs.
Dr. Guy will carefully examine the muscle action that creates the conditions you wish to improve. Strategic points on your face and neck may be marked as injection points.
The Skin Treatment
The injection sites are cleansed with an antibacterial agent. Icing or a topical numbing agent may be offered to make sensitive patients more comfortable. In some cases, a local anesthetic may be used.
Injections only take a few moments per site so the entire treatment is usually 10 minutes or less. Following injections, each site is cleansed. Makeup can be reapplied as long as no pressure is applied to the injection sites.
Recovery & Results
This procedure requires no recovery period although certain physical activities may be restricted for an hour or two immediately following treatment. There are no signs of the treatment other than the possibility of some slight and very temporary swelling or bruising at the injection sites. An improved appearance and smoothing of creases and wrinkles will appear over the next few days or up to 2 weeks. Facial rejuvenation by Botox does not change the appearance of your skin, it only relaxes the underlying muscles that cause the creases and wrinkles to appear.
